Some of our interns and co-ops have been a part of a research effort to develop life-saving drugs using Genomics. Some have developed and helped administer market research studies for cardiovascular medicine. Others have helped develop systems infrastructure for our many PC users at our major sites. Whatever your field of interest, Merck has opportunities that can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we're the right company for your long-term goals.
Expectations will go both ways -- we'll be expecting you to make a significant contribution and here's all that you can expect from us:
- Meaningful and challenging assignments based on your skills, experience and goals
- A detailed acculturation to Merck through informal mentorships, often with those who have been hired from college campuses
- Developmental seminars, presentations, and fun events (in the past we've had the Merck Information Fair, Research and Development overviews, a dinner cruise, and a reception with Merck Senior Management).
- An environment diverse in its people, projects and thinking
- Exposure to senior management
- Coaching and mentoring
- Team building
- Career development and guidance
- Housing and transportation assistance as needed
- Competitive weekly salary
Intern/Graduate Associates are ineligible for any benefits under any Merck plans except for travel accident insurance. However, they are encouraged to take advantage of the various amenities offered at most of Merck's sites. Click here for more information.
Depending upon your objectives, the program may culminate in a report, presentation or final project describing the results you achieved during the assignment. Upon completion of the program, you will receive a thorough evaluation from your manager that will review your success in fulfilling both your personal goals and the project's objectives. If you're a recent graduate, this program could lead to a full-time career. And if you're still a college student, successful completion of your assignment could lead to an invitation to return the following summer.
