Biotechnology Concentration

Biotechnology offers innovative solutions to challenges facing society today- human health, clean energy, continuous food supply, and global warming.  The UW-Stout biotechnology program helps you gain the necessary knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience you need to contribute to solving the world's problems. Our graduates are knowledgeable, skilled, and able to compete in today's workforce or go on for further schooling in graduate and professional programs.

Our students take math, physics, chemistry, and biology courses to prepare them for success as innovative thinkers. Opportunities for specialization abound, with courses in plant science, materials science, nanoscience, environmental science, health sciences, and science education.

Many of our graduates pursue careers in established or start-up biotechnology firms and government or university laboratories. Others choose to pursue further schooling in graduate programs or enter highly competitive professional programs such as medical, dental, optometry, pharmacy or veterinary schools.
