Lean Government
As government entities and other public and private sector organizations are challenged to do more with limited resources, it is crucial to improve office efficiency by eliminating non-value added activities in the workplace. Implementation of Lean practices results in improved and streamlined processes, where staff can experience a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day and serve their clients in a timely manner with less chaos and frustrations.
All sessions will run from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Understand the principles of Lean and the benefits of implementation in your office
Develop the ability to identify waste and apply Lean techniques to reduce or eliminate them
Identify the Lean building blocks that reduce or eliminate waste
Gain an understanding of the Value Stream Mapping tool, when to apply it and how to apply metrics to define success
Develop team building and leadership in planning the implementation of Value Stream Mapping
The morning portion of this workshop will introduce you to tools that will help you and your office be more efficient and increase customer experience satisfaction. Throughout the session, participants will be engaged in discussions and group activities in which they will identify waste and apply Lean techniques to reduce or eliminate them.
The second half of the day will explore Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to better understand the tool, how to determine when to use it and what outcomes and metrics to appropriately define success. Through examples and hands-on exercises, you will learn to identify what is driving the need for change, what a VSM project will entail, how to scope and organize the improvement team and the importance of leadership in carrying out the initiative.
