Personal Safety in the Classroom

Personal Safety in the classroom

Most of our students received training in Middle and High School on how to respond to violent incidents in the classroom. In many cases, students were told to hide in the room and listed to their teacher. Many Middle and High Schools are physically set up to allow for individual room "lock downs" along with visitor checking at front entrances. This is not the case for college and university settings. The following training was provided to Faculty, Staff and Students through the Nakatani Teaching & Learning Center to provide members of the UW-Stout community an overview of handling crisis in your classroom or office setting.
