The UW-Stout Police Department work closely in partnership with the members of the Menomonie Police Department. Although they are different agencies with different jurisdictional boundaries, these agencies (along with the Dunn County Sheriff's Department) have signed a mutual aid agreement that allows for seamless responses to critical incidents and law enforcement actions. There is at least one UW-Stout Police officer on duty, on campus 24 x 7 x 365.
The administrative phone number for UW-Stout Police department is 715-232-2222 and is staffed Monday - Friday from 7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (except for holidays). In the evenings and on the weekend, this number is directly transferred to the Dunn County Dispatch Center and answered by Menomonie Police dispatchers.
In all cases, for all emergencies, dial 911. The appropriate police agency and emergency personnel will respond to your need.
UW-Stout will become tobacco free on September 1, 2010. State Statute does regulate smoking within 25 feet of a residence hall building which could result in a citation being issued from a University Police Officer.
