Credit for Work Experience

Academic credit may be awarded for knowledge gained through job-related responsibilities, such as:

  • training received on the job 
  • learning resulting from career and personal experiences, community service etc. 

To be eligible for PLA credits, you must:

  • be an undergraduate student who has already been accepted to UW-Stout
  • have submitted your transcripts to the university
  • have remaining general education or elective credits required to earn your degree

How to qualify for credits?

If you are enrolled in any of the following majors, you may qualify by creating a Professional Portfolio to acquire credits to go towards your technical electives:

For Completion of Certifications or Professional Development & Training

To see if any training or certifications you've received that do not appear on any college transcript have been reviewed and recommended as eligible for college credit please check the resources on the right. Examples include American Red Cross, Dale Carnegie, Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), Walt Disney Co.

To receive credit for any of those training experiences we require an official transcript from the service recommending credit.
