When do you hire student employees?
Each year we hire student employees for summer and winter breaks. We also hire custodial helpers, a recycling crew, and snow removal crew throughout the year. There are also opportunities for employment when special projects arise during the year. Applications can be filled out and turned in to the Physical Plant front desk, 915 S. Broadway Street.
Do you charge for your services?
Special events and requests are charged. Routine waste removal from academic buildings and residence halls is preformed at no additional charge; however services performed for special events are charged at the current labor rate. Be sure to consider delivery and pick up charges.
If you are having a special event, place a request through the TMA iServiceDesk. Be sure to submit at least 7 business days prior to the event and include an account number.
The recycling program began in 1991 with a pilot program in
three buildings. The department currently collects recyclable materials
from all areas of campus.
Items collected include; glass, steel, aluminum, plastic, mixed paper, corrugated cardboard, polystyrene, shrink wrap, toner cartridges, lead acid batteries, dry cell batteries, waste tires, waste oil, pallets, scrap metal and wood, major appliances, fluorescent light tubes, CFLs, and power plant ash. Small yard waste is composted on campus and larger items are taken to off campus collection points.
Centralized containers are in all buildings for collection of recyclable, compostable, and landfill materials.
Three R's to follow in relation to items used:
Please remember to purchase post consumer recycled content items to complete the recycling circle.
Thanks for assisting with keeping our university and community green.
