Parking Citations
Parking citations can be expensive. Parking violations carry a fine of up to $25 with additional fees assessed for late payment. Other fraudulent or unauthorized use violations carry a fine of up to $200 according to UWS Ch. 18.05(6). Parking-related violations subject to UWS Ch 18.06 regulation are assessed the forfeiture established by Wisconsin State Administrative code, UWS 18.06.
Citations
If you do not pay your fine or file an appeal with the Parking Services within 7 calendar days, the citation will be considered delinquent. Delinquent citations are subject to additional late penalties. In addition to the fine, the university may remove or impound your vehicle at your expense.
Permits
A parking permit is the designated university identification card for authorized use of parking facilities. Resale, unauthorized transfer, duplication, misrepresentation or display of a permit not registered to you is a violation under UWS. sections 18.05(1), 18.06(41), 18.06(32). Penalties for misuse of a permit include fines authorized under UWS 18.05 and 18.06, and revocation of parking privileges.
Appealing parking citations
Parking Services is advised by an Advisory Board of faculty, staff and students. The Advisory Board advises Parking Services on the resolution of appealed parking citations. Payment of a citation under appeal is suspended without penalty during the appeal process. A completed appeal (forms are available from the Parking Office or can be sent by e-mail from our web page) must be received in the Parking Office within 7 calendar days from the date the citation was issued. The decision of the appeals process is binding on the Parking Office and the appellant. Late fines do not accrue until the appellant has received notice of the board's decision.
