The Polytechnic university blends theory with practice to produce innovative
solutions to real world problems, grow the economy and serve society. Although all Polytechnics share similar characteristics, each institution has specific strengths, practices and experiences that make them uniquely successful.
This summit will offer a venue for Polytechnic University faculty, staff and administration to:
- Build opportunities for collaboration and partnership with colleagues on research and classroom learning projects: Polytechnic universities share the same core values, embrace a similar educational philosophy and face like challenges in supporting educational practices such as strong lab-based experiences. This meeting will facilitate relationships and open opportunities for these universities to collaborate on research or classroom learning projects that involve students, faculty and staff, for the purpose of strengthening everyone’s programs.
- Share best practices specific to active, applied learning: Polytechnic universities have a myriad of practice specific to the active, applied focus in learning. STEM recruitment challenges, technology transfer, applied research, engineering growth areas, strong relationships with the private sector, the global context, and pedagogy for the “learn by doing” educational experience are specific areas to share and augment campus efforts as we prepare leaders for tomorrow.
- Address future trends of the 21st century to be more competitive in the global market: The meeting provides a venue to feature the development of the Polytechnic with perspectives from the experienced to new members in the field. This diverse array of experiences provides a unique platform for discussion of the technology trends of the 21st century as universities seek to become more competitive in the global market by combining theory, practice and experimentation in education to meet business and societal needs.
