University of Wisconsin-Stout is located in northwestern Wisconsin in Menomonie, 60 miles east of the Minneapolis/St Paul metropolitan area. A city of 15,000, Menomonie is surrounded by rolling hills, beautiful lakes and wooded trails, providing a wealth of year-round outdoor activities.
The area offers something for everyone. Communities are rich in history and cultural attractions. For the nature lover, choose from fishing or kayaking along the waterways as bald eagles soar overhead, biking or hiking on the Red Cedar Trail, or camping in area state parks. To the north is the Chequamegon National Forest, Apostle Islands, and the shores of Lake Superior. If you prefer big city life, the Minneapolis/St Paul area is just 60 miles to the west along I-94, offering a multitude of shopping and exciting venues.
