The Future is Now
Whether you want to do your own investing or have a financial planner, everyone needs some understanding of their options for creating a secure financial future. University of Wisconsin-Stout Outreach Services is offering eight 3 ½ hour workshops for you to learn more about investing.
Basic Workshops: 9:00 am- 12:30 pm
The morning workshop is for people with little or no knowledge about investing. The workshop will look at:
- the basic ideas and goals associated with investing,
- different investment vehicles such as savings account, certificates of deposit, money market funds, stocks, bond, ETFs and mutual funds and how these make up a portfolio, and
- discuss the difference between IRAs and Roth IRAs
The workshop will provide participants with a working knowledge about investing so each person can begin to develop their own investment strategy with comfort.
Advanced Workshops: 1:30 - 5:00 pm
The afternoon workshop is designed for people with more experience in investing or people who have taken the first session and would like to learn more. The workshop will focus on:
- three investment vehicles: stock, mutual funds, and ETFs, and
- how to analyze each of these options using available Internet sources, rating organizations, and financial ratios.
The workshop will allow participants to do their own investing or know what questions to ask a financial planner. It will provide the resources so individuals can compare different options and find the ones best suited to their own needs and risk tolerance.
