Program Benefits

The Adjunct Instructor Candidate pool provides:

  1. For Department Chairs, it is a pre-qualified database of instructors available in the event an emergency hire is necessary and no current staff is available.
  2. For Continuing Education, it is a pre-qualified, available supply of human resources to provide, through conventional and distance education mediums, credit courses and non-credit offerings courses, or provide special project support for projects that the current staff is not available to teach or provide.
  3. For UW-Stout, it affords the university the human resources necessary for boundless opportunities to expand the university’s mission to teach adult learners beyond the boundaries of the campus through conventional and distance education formats.
  4. For qualified individuals with experience and expertise in UW-Stout’s instructional areas, it is the opportunity to share their knowledge with adult learners on a part-time basis through teaching on or off campus and through various forms of distance education.

Opportunities for adjunct candidates may include:

  1. Teach on-campus courses for UW-Stout departments.
  2. Teach credit outreach courses at off-campus sites for UW-Stout departments or Outreach Services.
  3. Teach mediated (on-line or through audio- and/or video-based) courses for UW-Stout departments or Outreach Services.
  4. Facilitate non-credit bearing offerings for Outreach Services.
  5. Make presentations at conferences, workshops, or seminars for Outreach Services.
  6. Provide instructional design or subject matter expertise for course development activities.
  7. Provide course development support for special projects in areas such as graphics development, software programming, or mediated course design.
