Before you arrive at UW-Stout you will want to prepare yourself for a successful college experience. This checklist is a helpful reminder and a way to keep track of everything you need to do.

The easiest way to reach Menomonie is to fly into the Minneapolis International Airport. The Chippewa Valley Airport Shuttle Service, located on the ground transportation floor, can take passengers to Country Inn & Suites in Menomonie. You can make reservations on the Chippewa Valley Airport Service website.
In order to receive transportation from Country Inn & Suites to UW-Stout, you will need to arrive on one of the dates specified above. If you do not arrive on one of these dates, you will need to make your own arrangements (housing and transportation) until the two specified arrival dates. Transportation can be arranged by contacting the local taxi service: Town and Country Taxi Service, 715/309-9619.
If you arrive to Menomonie after 5 p.m., you will need to arrange overnight accommodations at Country Inn & Suites or Super 8 motel. Transportation will be provided to campus, the following day, at 10:30 a.m.
Menomonie's climate is characterized by great temperature extremes. During the summer (June–September), temperatures are often above 80° Fahrenheit (26.6° Celsius) and occasionally above 90° F (32° C), while during the winter (December–March), you can expect many days of 0° F (-16° C) readings, and even lower. Students should dress accordingly.
All international students who enroll at the University of Wisconsin-Stout for the first time are required to attend an International Student Orientation Program. When you arrive in Menomonie, you should report to the Office of International Education, 200 Main Street, E. Upon arrival, the Office of International Education will provide you with an orientation schedule and other pertinent information about UW-Stout and Menomonie. The required orientation program will include topics such as: housing, banking practices, immigration regulations, enrollment procedures and other academic information, and American customs. The purpose of the orientation is to acquaint you with the United States, UW-Stout and Menomonie, and to help you get settled before you attend classes.
