Graduate Q&A: Allexxandra Nevison
July 13, 2017
Following is a Q&A with one of the 1,375 students who received a
diploma May 6 at UW-Stout:
Digital marketing technology
honors: President’s Award, graduating Cum Laude
Why did you
choose UW-Stout? The cost, location, its online capability and the programs
offered through the online interface.
What are the
biggest challenges you faced in earning your degree? Over my last two years, I
worked full time and went to school full time. Some of the biggest challenges
were balancing my school work with my family and work. Another huge challenge I
faced was the UW System budget cuts. The cuts cut many of my classes, which
almost prevented me from graduating on time. In order to make up for the core
curriculum courses being cut, I had to take independent studies, substitute
courses and take online courses through other universities.
out among your college experiences? My favorite was the interaction through the
online program with my adviser, Kevin Tharp, and how interactive the
instructors are with the students. Evan Sveum, one of my instructors for two
years, makes a point to set time aside when it is most convenient for the
students. Tharp and Sara Anger, the program services coordinator, are such
great advocates and resources for the digital marketing technology program, and
I am so fortunate to have them both as resources!
I recently accepted a full-time position with Snap-on Tools at its corporate
office in Kenosha as the data and research analyst for the Marketing
Intelligence Department. I really enjoy analytics, improving the standard
processes through automation and finding the "why" behind the
numbers. Someday in the future, I hope to go back to school for my master’s in
data analytics to really refine my skills and gain more of an understanding of
data and how it correlates to the real world.
