University of Wisconsin Stout | Wisconsin's Polytechnic University
That’s how employers describe UW-Stout graduates. Our innovative, career-focused degrees combine applied learning and the liberal arts.
Three faculty members from the human development and family studies department at University of Wisconsin-Stout will lead a discussion on the issue. Nurturing and Navigating Family Holiday Get-Togethers will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, in the Willow and Walnut rooms of the Memorial Student Center.
The forum is free and open to the public.
Faculty on the panel will be Assistant Professor Amanda Barnett, Professor Bob Salt and Assistant Professor Julie Zaloudek.
"People may look forward to strengthening family bonds by celebrating the holidays together, but some may not feel up to the challenges that sometimes come with family celebrations," Salt said.
"Blended and separated families, conflicts with adult children, aging parents, resurrected sibling feuds, travel stress, difficult family members, overspending, alcohol and unrealistic expectations are just some of the potentially challenging aspects of family gatherings," he added.
The event is sponsored by the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences.
