Ceremony to include announcements of economic impact, employment reports
March 2, 2017
A ceremony Tuesday, March 7, commemorating
the anniversaries of two seminal events in University of Wisconsin-Stout
history will feature two major announcements by Chancellor Bob
An event that begins at 9 a.m. in the Great
Hall of the Memorial Student Center will look at the impact of UW-Stout
receiving the Malcom Baldrige National Quality award 15 years ago and
being designated Wisconsin’s Polytechnic University 10 years ago.
The event is open to the public.
As part of that celebration, Meyer will
announce the results of a new study conducted for UW-Stout on its economic
impact in western Wisconsin. The study includes an estimate on the economic
impact that UW-Stout alumni have on the workforce of western Wisconsin, as well
as the return on investment for students who attend UW-Stout and the taxpayers
who help support the institution.
Meyer also will announce the 2015-16
undergraduate employment rate, which for 2014-15 was 97.3 percent. The
report includes the average starting salaries for 2015-16 graduates.
“It is fitting that we take time to reflect
on the importance that the Baldrige award and the polytechnic designation have
had on the growth of UW-Stout in so many areas,” said Meyer, who was a faculty
member, college dean and administrator at UW-Stout before returning to campus
in August 2014 as chancellor.
“We also want to take this opportunity to
discuss the results of our economic impact study and to reveal what our
employment rate was for 2015-16 undergraduates,” Meyer added. "These
are important data points that we take very seriously at UW-Stout, as a result
of our Baldrige work and our polytechnic designation."
The program will include presentations
by college deans, faculty members and students. Lt. Gov.
Rebecca Kleefisch will attend and read a proclamation by Gov. Scott
Walker making March 9, 2017, “Wisconsin Polytechnic University Day” in
