Student teams to compete in Apprentice Dunn County showcase

April 30, 2012

Three UW-Stout student teams will try to make the cut this week on the finals of The Apprentice Dunn County. The business competition, sponsored by the Greater Menomonie Area Chamber of Commerce, is modeled after the popular NBC TV show “The Apprentice” starring business mogul Donald Trump.

A Team Showcase will be held from 3-7 p.m.Thursday at WESTconsin Credit Union Community Room, 3333 Schneider Ave. SE. An awards ceremony will begin at 6:40 p.m.

Teams will present their solutions to project proposals submitted last fall by eight area businesses: Arbor Place, Life Change Consulting, Menomonie Main Street, Optimum Therapies, Re/Max Affiliates, Rustic Country Bread, The Pourhouse and United Way of Dunn County.

Each team was paired with a business. Judges will evaluate their work and businesses will decide if they would like to “hire” their apprentices by using their ideas or “fire” them.

Along with UW-Stout, four teams from Chippewa Valley Technical College will be competing.
