More than 90 projects to be presented on Research Day

Student, faculty and staff research will be in the spotlight this week at UW-Stout.

Research Day is Tuesday. From 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., 92 research projects will be presented, with posters in the Great Hall and oral presentations in Ballroom A of the Memorial Student Center. The projects represent the scholarly work of 135 students, 57 advisers and 6 faculty. See a list of projects.

An awards ceremony will follow from 1:45-2:30 in Ballrooms B and C. Kenneth Smith, Discovery Center research specialist, will be presented with the WiSys Technology Foundation 2012 Innovation Scholar award. Jen Grant, biology, will receive the Emerging Outstanding Researcher Award. Brian McAlister, director of the School of Education, will receive the Senior Outstanding Researcher Award.

On Friday, a group of student researchers will participate in the UW System Symposium for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity at UW-Parkside.

UW-Stout also has released two annual research publications. The Journal of Student Research can be found online. StoutQuest, a magazine highlighting campus research, is available upon request or online.
