Real estate manager, alumna returns as Executive in Residence

A UW-Stout alumna and real estate executive will return to campus as the School of Hospitality Leadership Executive in Residence.

Rhonda Johannesen, a 1981 graduate, will speak from 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Great Hall of the Memorial Student Center. She is senior vice president of real estate development for Education Realty Trust, a Memphis, Tenn.-based company that is one of the nation’s largest owners, developers and managers of college housing.

The company owns or manages property in 61 cities on or near college campuses in 23 states, according to its website, www.edrtrust.com.

Johannesen oversees the staff and development process for college housing facilities, in cooperation with a project manager. Since 2000 Education Realty Trust has built more than 33 private housing communities with 21,000 beds at a cost of $1.3 billion.

While at UW-Stout, Johannesen also will meet with student leaders, School of Hospitality Leadership officials and attend a meeting of the program advisory board for property management.
