March 5, 2012

Twelve UW-Stout students will vie this week for the title of Stoutman 2012.

The sorority Delta Zeta is sponsoring the competition at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, in the Great Hall of the Memorial Student Center. Contestants will be judged in several categories, including formal wear, beachwear, talent and question-and-answer.

The judges will be Joan Thomas, Dean of Students; Krista Proksch, involvement coordinator; Phil Lyons, assistant vice chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs; and Neal Peterson, Stout Student Association president.

Admission is free.

“We are running the event as part of Delta Zeta sorority’s Alcohol Awareness Week,” said Raven Gresenz, of Mound, Minn., Delta Zeta secretary. “It not only highlights the amazing men of Stout but alcohol safety.”

The sorority also is sponsoring an ice cream social Monday, a hot dog sale Thursday with proceeds going to Mothers Against Drunk Driving and Turtle Taxi safe ride home service Thursday night and early Friday morning.
