New touch-screen information kiosks greet visitors to campus

January 23, 2012

Visitors at UW-Stout won’t have to stop and ask for directions if they find one of four new touch-screen information kiosks on campus.

One of the features on the 42-inch video screens is a campus map. The digital kiosks show users where they are on campus, highlight the location of the building they want to reach and show them the best way to get there.

Two kiosks are in the lobby for Admissions, which recently relocated to Millennium Hall. Admissions hosts prospective student tours and visits. One kiosk will be in Jarvis Hall and one in the Memorial Student Center (the latter to be installed).

Along with the map, users can click on six other subject areas: About UW-Stout, Academics, Research and Outreach, Life on Campus, Blue Devil Athletics and Explore Menomonie.

“It’s another way to highlight the opportunities at UW-Stout. It’s interactive and a great tool for prospective students, parents, alumni and industry partners,” said Maureen Carlson, director of Integrated Marketing.

UW-Stout can easily update and manage the information available at the kiosks, which are made by Alpha Video of Edina, Minn.
