New weekend shuttle service offering students a free ride home

December 12, 2011

A new night shuttle service for UW-Stout students made its debut last weekend. The Stout Student Association kicked off its free — with student ID — shared ride service Friday night.

Students can call for a ride from Rigthway Shuttle between 11:30 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. They will be picked up in City Lot 10, on Main Street north of the Administration Building, and taken only to their place of residence. The shuttle will not take students to local businesses.

The Stout Student Association contracted with Rightway Shuttle of Eau Claire for the service, according to Neal Peterson, SSA president. “SSA decided to back this because we wanted to endorse a safe ride home for students during the weekend,” Peterson said.

Last January, SAA committed funds to Dunn County Transit to provide bus routes on campus during the day. Additional routes run through campus some evenings until about 10 p.m.

The shuttle, like the bus service, will not operate during the winter or summer breaks.

Students can call 715-214-5876 for a ride or wait in the parking lot.
