Film crew from Pakistan to visit campus; Pakistani student wins award

December 12, 2011

The connection between UW-Stout and Pakistan is growing.

This week, from Wednesday, Dec. 14, through Friday, Dec. 16, DAWN TV from Pakistan will be on campus to film four students from Pakistan who are studying at UW-Stout. The students are part of the U.S. State Department's Global Undergraduate Exchange Program in Pakistan, or Global UGRAD-Pakistan.

An official from the U.S. State Department will accompany the video crew, which is visiting four universities while in the U.S.

One of the UW-Stout students, Hammad Ali Khan, recently was named a winner in the Global UGRAD-Pakistan student video competition. The videos represent students' views about what it's like to study in the U.S. Khan was one of two video grand prize winners. His video can be seen at http://www.irex.org/news/winners-announced-global-ugrad-pakistan-fall-2011-video-competition.

UW-Stout had its first student from Global UGRAD-Pakistan last spring. The goal of the program is to have emerging Pakistani student leaders act as ambassadors and promote mutual understanding between the countries.
