Student is competing for title of Miss USA

A University of Wisconsin-Stout student is vying this week for the title of Miss USA.

Danielle HooperDanielle Hooper, 21, of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., a St. Paul suburb, is the reigning Miss Minnesota USA. A total of 51 women are competing for the national title.

Preliminary Miss USA competition, including swimsuit and evening gown, will be streamed live at 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, on the pageant website. The pageant finals will be aired live beginning at 8 p.m. Sunday, June 16, on NBC from Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

Hooper will be a senior this fall at UW-Stout. She is majoring in retail merchandising and management.

She has received the Chancellor's Award for maintaining a high grade-point average and works part time in the Financial Aid office. She also has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.
