Three students receive transfer scholarships

Three students transferring to University of Wisconsin-Stout from Wisconsin technical colleges are recipients of the Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship.

The students plan to attend in the fall.

Logan Michels, of Colfax, received $2,500 and will major in psychology; he is transferring from Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire.

Jason Diekfuss, of Fennimore, received $1,500 and will major in golf enterprise management; he is transferring from Southwest Wisconsin Technical College in Fennimore.

Frances Garrity, of Prairie du Chien, also received $1,500. He will major in hotel restaurant and tourism management and is transferring from Southwest Wisconsin Technical College in Fennimore.

To be eligible, students must be members of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society at their previous college; have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and be accepted at UW-Stout. The application deadline was June 1.

The scholarship is offered only to qualified students transferring directly from two-year colleges.
