The workshops are co-sponsored by the National Exercise Trainers Association.
Group Exercise Certification will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 9. Potential and current fitness instructors will learn basic academic and practical applications of teaching group exercise. No college, science or teaching background is required.
Participants can become registered for two years. The workshop includes a written exam. A reduced registration fee ends Thursday, Feb. 7.
Kettlebell Specialty Certification will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 10. Kettlebells are becoming a popular strength training tool that can be used in a group setting or with personal training clients.
This introductory course teaches the basics of kettlebell training, the history of the workout, safety techniques, body positioning, alignment and appropriate starting weights. Participants will learn the most popular exercises, including swing, clean and press, snatch and many more.
