Borrow from UW System Libraries

UW-Stout students and faculty/staff can check out books from other UW System libraries and receive them in only 1-5 business days.

  • Check-out periods for UW System library items vary and are dependent on the lending library's policies.
  • You will be notified via your UW-Stout email account when your item arrives in the library where you can pick it up at the Circulation Desk on Floor 1
    • You may select at which campus library you would like to pick up materials.
    • Be prompt in picking up items, as they are retained only 10 DAYS at the Desk
  • item may be renewed dependent on the lending library's policies if there are no other requests for it.
  • Lending periods, fines and bills will be applied based on the lending library's policies, not on the UW-Stout Library's policies.

Start With a Search in the Stout Library Catalog

Select Catalogs to Search

  • Select one or several to search simultaneously
  • Click Select.

Search

  • On the Basic tab, enter search terms, and select any desired limits.
  • A screen appears showing the search progress of the selected library catalogs and number of titles from each.
  • The next screen is a list of titles, indicating the location of items and availability.
  • Select a title from the list for more information.

Make a Request

  • For an item to be requested, click on Make a Request in the Action box on the right.

  • Continue by filling out the Login form. This takes you to the catalog's My Account (your personal library transactions).
  • Click Request from another UW-System Library.
  • Complete the form and click Submit.
  • A note at the top should indicate "Your request was successful".
  • Click the My Account tab to view your library transactions. If it was unsuccessful, submit via the Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad) online request form.
  • Click Logout in the upper right corner to exit your account.

Check Status and Pick Up Item

  • View the status of your request at any time by clicking on the My Account tab and logging in.
  • You will be notified via your UW-Stout email account when your item arrives in the library.
  • You need your Photo ID to check out UW System library items.
