[hidetoc]Electronic Course Materials
Formerly called e-Reserves.
Instructors can make materials available to their students through their electronic courses. These materials might include:
- full text articles from indexes
- print journal articles
- book chapters
- instructor produced materials
The library subscribes to three full-text databases that provide persistent links in their journal article records--EBSCO, ProQuest, and WilsonWeb. These links can be copied and pasted into Learn@UW and e-Scholar courses for a direct link to the full text article.
Learn@UW Courses - Persistent Links
When a full text article is located in one of the above databases, look for a persistent link in the body of the article record (not in the address bar and not in the full text of the article). It is labeled differently in each of the databases. Look for it in this field:
- EBSCO - Persistent Link
- ProQuest - Document URL
- WilsonWeb - Article Link

e-Scholar Courses - Persistent Links
To be in copyright compliance in the use of library subscription databases, when adding a link to e-Scholar courses, the persistent link must also include our proxy server address!
- Add the proxy part of the URL to the persistent link: http://ezproxy.lib.uwstout.edu:2048/login?url=
- For example the whole URL would be: http://ezproxy.lib.uwstout.edu:2048/login?url= http://search.epnet.com/login.aspx?direct=true&db=afh&an=15638834
Remote users will be prompted for their Stout email username and password. On campus students will have automatic authentication.
Assistance with Scanning Materials and Loading Files to e-Courses
The Library's Electronic Course Materials staff will assist instructors with getting library, or personal, materials into electronic courses. Simply provide a scannable document or, in the case of articles from indexes, the database and citation. Library staff will scan the document and provide a pdf file and assist in uploading to your electronic course resources folder.
Copyright
All use of the Electronic Course materials must be in compliance with the U.S. Copyright Law and TEACH Act (Use of Copyrighted Works in Distance Education). Copyright compliance is the responsibility of the instructor using the materials, not the Library.
