Adding a Printer to Stout Laptop

Windows Laptop Instructions

NOTE: You must use Internet Explorer to add a printer!

  1. Click here to start the process Add a Printer
  2. Click on Open
  3. Click on Allow
  4. Select a printer from the drop down menu:
    • llc_printer1bw
    • llc_printer2bw
    • llc_printer3bw
    • llc_printer4bw
    • llc_printer5color
    • llc_printer6color
  5. Click on Install Driver
    • Users MAY be prompted for an administrator username and password.  Can try their UW-Stout email username/password, OR
    • It may be filled in with Username: student, Password: student.  Click on Yes
  6. The print queue for the added printer will open, which shows that the installation was successful.

Mac Laptop Instructions

  1. Click on the Mac (Apple) icon on your Mac desktop
  2. Go to System Preferences
  3. Go to Print & Fax or Print & Scan
  4. Click on padlock symbol to Unlock (lower left corner)
  5. Click + (under current printers)
  6. Choose IP
  7. Fill in the following information:
    • Protocol: Line Printer Daemon (LPD)
    • Address: itcqueue.uwstout.edu
    • Queue: (enter one from below)
      • llc_printer1bw
      • llc_printer2bw
      • llc_printer3bw
      • llc_printer4bw
      • llc_printer5color
      • llc_printer6color
    • Name: (student's choice, recommend something like): Lib 6color, or Lib 1bw
    • B& W printers:select the generic postscript driver for the B&W printers
    • Color Printers: 
      • Macs issued before January 2013: select HP Color Laserjet 4700 in the driver list for the color printers.
      • Macs issued or re-imaged after January 2013: no current driver.  Save document to a flash drive or send to self via email.  Open document on one of the library computers and send to color printer.
  8. Click Add
  9. Now on printer list
    Print job will show up as before on the Print Server Station: student(198.168.1.3) – number is their IP address.

*Please note this is a generic print driver for the Macs. If they have detailed formatting, we cannot guarantee it will print properly.
