Education

Paul earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California at Davis, a Master's degree in Social Psychology from the University of Iowa, and a Master’s degree in Library Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Responsibilities

As UW-Stout Library Director, Paul leads the operation of the Library in development of the budget and appropriations, developing and proposing library policy, representing the library on campus and in the UW System, and promoting the library's role as an information provider in an ever-changing learning environment.

Background

Paul had 22 years of experience as library director of Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa. Previous to that, he was a Reference/Government Documents Librarian at Loras College (Dubuque) for six years.

During his tenure as library director at Clarke College, he counts among his accomplishments: salvaging the library collection from a fire that destroyed the library building; oversaw the construction of, and the move to, a new library facility; rebuilt the library collection; implemented the first online integrated library system at Clarke; and initiated online subscriptions, databases, etc.

Hobbies/Recreation

Some of Paul's major interests include philately (stamp collecting), traditional film photography and darkroom work, book collecting and reading, and woodworking and furniture making.
