The Collections

The collections of the UW-Stout University Library present a wide spectrum of material to the university community.

The diverse material in the Main and the Periodical collections cover a variety of intellectual levels from general information for undergraduate study to research resources for graduate students, faculty and staff.

• The Main Collection represents the library's major information resource, including books, sound recordings, computer programs and audiovisual materials.  Main Collection materials are on floors 3, 4, and 5.
• The Periodicals Collection is composed of serial publications: journals, magazines, newspapers.  Periodicals are on floor 2.
• The Reference Collection provides authoritative fact resources such as specialized encyclopedias, statistical resources, directories, dictionaries, etc. Reference is on floor 1.
• The Educational Materials Center supports the K-12 teacher education programs of the university and consists of five major collections: Text; Curriculum Guides; Juvenile; Young Adult; and Puppet collections.  The EMC is in the southwest corner on floor 1.
