Our Mission

The UW-Stout Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Intersex, and Asexual/Aromantic (LGBTQIA+) Program Office is grounded in the belief that all members of our campus community deserve access to an equitable and affirming environment where diverse students, faculty, and staff are safe, connected and supported. We seek to create a campus where LGBTQIA+ individuals are celebrated as assets and encouraged to contribute to their learning and living communities as full, authentic human beings. The LGBTQIA+ Program Office will cultivate such an environment at UW-Stout through:

  • Programming, advocacy, outreach and services to promote connection, empowerment and visibility for LGBTQIA+ students;
  • Campus-wide educational programming to promote ally development and foster understanding of the diversity within the LGBTQIA+ community and the ways in which heterosexism and homo/bi/transphobia interconnect with sexism, racism, ableism and classism to reinforce oppression;
  • Representing LGBTQIA+ students and advocating for their specific and unique needs through positive community building and collaboration with colleges, departments, offices and committees across campus.
