Do I have to post my student job (I already have someone in mind)?
Yes. Simple as that. UW-STOUT Students are advised to access Stout CareerLink for current on campus opportunities. Federal Regulations (Equal Opportunity) requires us to ensure job opening information and application processes to be available to all students.
In the case of a returning student employee: the position they filled will not be considered vacant, and therefore does not require a job posting.
How do I go about getting access to post an on-campus job opening?
The first step is requesting access to the CareerLink system. Directions for requesting access are available under the "On-Campus Employers" tab on the Student Employment website: https://www.uwstout.edu/jobs/studentjobs/index.cfm.
Career Services will review your request and, if approved, will e-mail you a password and CareerLink access information.
I’m having trouble logging in… what’s going on?
Are you logging in via the correct button? It can be confusing when accessing the CareerLink homepage, as there are a few login types. If you will be posting student on-campus part-time positions, you will click on the button "Campus Employers"
Are you using the correct username and/or password?
If you continue to have problems logging in, contact the CareerServices Office at 715-232-1601.
How do I know if my position is work-study or state payroll?
Work-study is federal funding, and state payroll funding is from our state budget. If you are using a 145 budget to pay your student (example:145-0-292001), you are paying from a Work-Study account. All other budget types would be considered state payroll.
If you are unsure of which budget you are using to pay student employee’s contact your Account Manager.
The Position type (payroll) MUST be indicated for the job to post on Stout CareerLink.

If you have funding from both types of pay sources, you can choose to post your position as BOTH work-study and State Payroll. Simply hold down the “ctrl” key on your keyboard to allow the curser to select both Position Types.

Do I have to complete all of the blanks on the job post form?
Yes. All blanks indicated with a red asterisk (*) must be completed in order for the job to post to CareerLink. These are minimum requirements for job posting, so please take your time and be as thorough as possible.
Why is it taking so long for my job post to appear?
All jobs submitted for posting must go through a manual review process by the Student Employment Coordinator. If information is missing, the employer will be contacted for further detail. Most jobs should post within 1-2 days. If your job has not posted within 24-48 hours of submission, contact the Student Employment Coordinator at 715-232-1363 (The Financial Aid Office)
I want to hire students for the upcoming term… do I have to wait to post the position?
Stout CareerLink allows the employer to post jobs well in advance if they so choose. In the posting process, a job start is required, but also a posting date. Employers can submit a job to post immediately for a job to start in a following term, or delay the post for a specific date in the future.
Stout CareerLink has the flexibility to allow you to update and revise dates/information/criteria at any time (although it will go through the approval process for re-post).

How long do I have to keep my job posted?
UW-Stout Policy requires job postings to remain active for a minimum of 5 days.
What If I want to extend my job post a little further (or shorten it a bit?)?
You can access your current and expired job posting at any time on your Career Link Profile page. Click on the “jobs” tab for a list of your past and present jobs.
Click on the edit button to increase or decrease your posting time. Don’t forget that the job must be posted for a minimum of 5 days, however.

Jobs continue to remain in your database, even after they've
expired.You can access your current and
expired job posting at any sight on your Career Link Profile page. Click on the
"jobs" tab for a list of your past and present jobs. (your access is limited to jobs you have
posted)
Click on the job in question, and the profile view will open
on the page.On the upper left of the
detail you will see a blue icon labeled "Page Functions", click on the link
below labeled "Copy Job". This will
allow you to copy all of the jobs information into a new job form.Ensure you update relevant data to make the
position current, and submit.

Should I post my Graduate Assistant openings on the Student Jobs page?
Employers who request Access to Stout CareerLink define their job posting type in the submission process:
Employers that indicate their main purpose as posting "Post Grad Assistantships" will access the CareerLink "Employer" tab, but will be directed to complete a posting site unique to that job type.

Where do I direct students for the “Student Job Application?”
The General On-Campus Student Job Application that most
On-Campus Employers utilize is available in a few places on the UW-Stout Web
Site:
1. When Students log-in to CareerLink to review job posts, they have access to the Job Application.
Students will log-in, then access the link labeled "Job Vacancy List", click on "On Campus Student Employment". The Student Employment Application is in red, and gives the student a link to the downloadable form.
2. The Student Jobs site (https://www.uwstout.edu/jobs/studentjobs/index.cfm), under the "Students tab", has lots of helpful information for Stout Students, including a link to the Student Employment Application form.The link to the Application form is available on this page, in BLUE.
