The 2007–2008 fall semester runs from September 5 to December 21; the spring semester from January 22 to May 14. International student orientation takes place the week before classes begin and includes: housing, banking practices, health insurance, immigration regulations, enrollment procedures and other academic information to ensure students acclimate and adjust to their new surroundings at UW-Stout.

It is very important that all international students to maintain updated files with the Office of International Education (OIE). Information and documents needed for the OIE file are: current address, phone number, e-mail address, photocopy of I-20 or DS-2019, I-94, photo page of passport and visa.
