Program Description
The Seville Program located at the Spanish-American Institute of International Education is designed to provide students with a personalized and integrated living and learning experience in a Spanish-speaking environment. The Institute occupies two buildings in the heart of Seville and is surrounded by shops, restaurants, and cafes, which provide the perfect setting for your study abroad experience in Spain. Also noted as the best-staffed study abroad program in Seville, the Spanish-American Institute offers students of all Spanish language abilities a wide range of language, liberal arts and business courses, exceptional student services, home-stays with local families, and educational excursions.
Sevilla, Spain
Just 350 miles south of Madrid, Seville (Spain’s fourth largest city) is the most complete personification of Spain’s true spirit in wealth and variety of its art treasures, in its attractions as a city, and in the charm of its inhabitants. The city reflects all the striking qualities that have come to be regarded as typically “Spanish.” Few places can boast such outstanding historic buildings as the Giralda, a Moorish tower with a Christian superstructure; the Alcazar, a Mudejar palace rich in medieval legends; and the Cathedral, the largest in the Christian world. The various city quarters are also quaint, with their narrow, winding streets and tiny squares. Seville is also renowned for bullfighting. The famous Andalusian herds of fighting bulls, the handsome Maestranza bullring, and the Sevillian school of bullfighters are known for their graceful and unequaled style.
Courses
In the Liberal Arts and International Business Track, students study Spanish language on the appropriate level and take the remainder of their courses in Spanish or in English, depending on their overall language ability. Students may concentrate on Liberal Arts or International Business, or they may take courses from both areas. The Intensive Language Track is designed for students on the beginning and intermediate levels who want to focus solely on Spanish acquisition. Students at the advanced level can take all of their courses (language, literature, liberal arts) in Spanish.
