Program Description
The Office of International Education is offering the opportunity for students to complete the course Digital Photography (MEDIA 310/510) abroad in Scotland with Assistant Professor Peter Schlosser. Students will travel to Edinburgh, Scotland, where accommodations will be provided at nearby Dalkeith Palace. Visits to Edinburgh, Glasgow and the surrounding highlands throughout the course will offer fantastic photographic opportunities. Students are also eligible to do independent studies on this course. See instructor if you have already taken MEDIA 450 Digital Photography.
Edinburgh, Scotland & London, England
Near Edinburgh, Scotland, students will stay just twenty minutes outside of the city at Dalkeith Palace. The palace plays host to the Wisconsin in Scotland study abroad program during the regular school year. The manor home was built in 1711 and is owned by the 9th Duke of Buccleuch. There will be trips from the Palace to Glasgow and the surrounding highlands, Scotland. Glasgow has a population of 570,000, making it Scotland’s second largest city. Whether your interest is art, architecture, nightlife, shopping, or sports, it can be found in Glasgow.
Courses
Upon successful completion, students will receive 3 credits. Students will enroll in course number MEDIA-310-0S1. To receive financial aid in the summer, keep in mind that six credits are required. If you’ve already taken Advanced Digital Photography, please contact Pete Schlosser about doing an independent study alongside this course.
Estimated Costs
Students will pay a program fee to UW-Stout to cover the cost of tuition and fees, health insurance, international student ID card, housing, local transportation, and flight. Passport fees, most meals and personal expenses are paid directly by the students. Eligible students can use their financial aid to help pay these expenses. Need based scholarships are available to eligible Wisconsin residents.
