Program Description

Fontys University offers high quality programs that combine theory with practical experience. More than 36,000 students have chosen Fontys University as their educational provider, making it the largest higher educational institution in the Netherlands. Teaching is carried out in a small-scale environment so that attention is focused on a student’s personal development. At the same time students are able to profit from the huge diversity offered by a large institution. Because of its location on the border of Germany and Fontys University’s International focus, the student population is extremely diverse with a high number of German students and others from around the world. Programs offered in English include: International Business, Marketing, and Economics and Software Engineering. Venlo, Netherlands

Map of the NetherlandsThe International Campus of Fontys University is located in Venlo, Netherlands, which is on the southeastern border of the country on the border of Germany. Venlo has approximately 90,000 inhabitants and became an established city around 1343. Due to its location on the River Maas, it was able to develop into a thriving place of commerce at this early stage. The Venlo area is blessed with an abundance of natural beauty, located between several national parks: the German-Dutch Maas-Schwalm-Nette Park, Maasduinen National Park and the Groote Peel National Park. The banks of the Maas River are also a favorite location for picnicking or strolling. There is a wealth of ‘green’ inside the city itself. Every Venlo resident can be in the heart of the natural environment within ten minutes by bicycle. Recreational opportunities in Venlo are also plentiful for participants and spectators alike. There are several quality golf courses around the city. Venlo also offers plenty of entertainment: theatres, cinemas, pubs and bars. There is an historic shopping center with a wide variety of shops combined with authentic bars, restaurants and pavement cafés. Many museums, theatres, cinemas and traditional carnivals make Venlo a regional entertainment centre.
