Program Description
University of Wisconsin-Stout students majoring in Art and Design, Apparel Design and Development, or any major now have an opportunity to gain international experience studying color in France. The Color Studio course is designed to develop student awareness of color sensibilities by studying color and geography and exploring the varied light qualities of Paris and Southern France. Students will develop an understanding for the physical properties of color, the major schools of thought, and influential color theorists. Learning will also be enhanced through applied color design exercises. Highlights include visits to the studios of renowned artists and designers, and to places such as Notre Dame, the Louvre, the Musée d’Orsay, Sacre Coeur, the infamous Montmartre neighborhood, and the Champ-Elysées. Students will enjoy excursions to Giverny and, Nice to experience the locations that inspired color work of Monet, Matisse, Cezanne, and numerous others. The group will spend about half of the trip in Paris, with excursions to the French countryside and to the southern region of France on the French Riviera.
NOTE: Participants in this program will not be accompanied by the faculty member on the return flight from France.
