Program Description
UW-Stout Students majoring in Apparel Design, Applied Math, Applied Science, Art and Design, Business, and Hospitality and Tourism have the opportunity to study just outside of London, England at the University of Hertfordshire. With around 22,000 students, the University of Hertfordshire is located on a green campus with excellent learning, residential and sports facilities. Hertfordshire is a young university with state-of-the-art facilities and a frequent collaboration with local, regional and national employers. The Student Union has a wide range of clubs and societies, including its own bar and night club on campus for music and entertainment. Also located on campus, a Sports village offers outstanding sporting and fitness facilities with a fitness club, climbing wall, cricket hall, squash courts, indoor swimming pool, badminton, basketball, volleyball and netball courts.
Hatfield, England
The University of Hertfordshire is located in Hatfield, a town of 28,000 people. London is less than an hour by train and the city of St. Albans is also close by (5 miles). The University’s placement gives students the best of all worlds. Hatfield is most famous for being the location of Hatfield House (or Royal Palace of Hatfield), where Queen Elizabeth learned about her accession to the throne. It is also regarded as being the birthplace of the jet airliner (the ill-fated De Havilland Comet). Nearby St. Albans was founded by the Romans in 43 A.D. Today, St. Albans has a population of 129,000. The city center has many historic buildings from the Romans founders to the Normans, but also has all the modern conveniences and entertainment such as restaurants, bars, shops and live music. Just a short ride away, London, the largest city in Europe, has a wide variety of cultural activities and entertainment from museums and art galleries to theater, opera, ballet, modern and classical music and shopping.
