Program Description
This program offers UW-Stout students a very special and unique opportunity to study painting and drawing in London and Edinburgh, Scotland. Classes in acrylic painting, watercolor and pastel drawing will be the basis for exploring color work in outdoor studies such as cityscapes and landscapes. These classes are structured to meet the personal needs and interests of students studying art and design at UW-Stout. The program is special in that much of the studio work will be inspired and influenced by looking at artwork in museums and galleries. Students taking part in this program will be expected to work hard and seriously. The program will be a mixture of intensive work and pleasurable exploration and recreation. The group will be limited to 15 students. This allows for a great deal of personal attention and instruction. It also makes it possible to socialize and travel together more freely and comfortably with a small group. The London Summer Art Study Program will be taught and directed by UW-Stout Professor Emeritus, Charles Wimmer. He has taught in some of the leading art colleges in England and has lived in London for over 15 years. His knowledge and love of London makes him a uniquely qualified person to direct and teach the summer painting and drawing program. This is the eleventh year this special program will be offered.
