Housing Leadership Scholarship Applications

RHA Scholarship


rhalil_1The University of Wisconsin-Stout Residence Hall Association awards two scholarships per year in the amount of $500 (credited against the recipients’ fall tuition) to an individual who has contributed service to the residence halls at UW-Stout.  The Residence Hall Association Scholarship is financed by fundraisers done with the volunteer work of past and present RHA members, friends, faculty, and staff.  The recipients must have lived in a UW-Stout residence hall for at least one semester. Recipients will be required to help with the fall Hall Event Committee (HEC) training night in the fall, unless participating in a studying abroad or internship opportunity. Note: This scholarship is not available to current RHA executive board members, RA’s, ARC’s, and DSM’s.

NRHH Scholarship


nrhhlil_1The University of Wisconsin-Stout chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) awards two scholarships per year in the amount of $250 (credited against the recipients’ fall tuition) to individuals who have contributed leadership and service to the residence halls at UW-Stout.  The NRHH Scholarship is financed by the contributions of current and past NRHH members, friends, faculty and staff.



Joe and Jan Womack Leadership Scholarship


title_1The Joe and Jan Womack Leadership Scholarship is awarded each spring to one residence hall student who has contributed exemplary leadership and service at UW-Stout and has served as a role model to other students. The scholarship is in the amount of $250 and is credited to the recipient’s fall tuition. The scholarship is given by Joe and Jan Womack to recognize student leadership and the importance of residence life. Dr. Jan Womack formerly served as Vice Chancellor, Administrative and Student Life Services at UW-Stout.

Criteria of Applicants


Demonstrates service and leadership in the residence halls; i.e. may include but not limited to floor representative, hall committee member, hall officer, RHA standing committee member, RHC Officer, Resident Advisor, hall orientation committee, etc.

Participates in campus student leadership activities;
i.e. may include but not limited to recognized student organizations, student governance committees, advisory committees, search and screen committees, University Student Senate, significant leadership experiences gained through employment on campus, etc.

Serves as a role model to other students;  i.e. displays integrity, ethical behavior, honesty, commitment and acceptance of responsibility.

Have a minimal cumulative grade point average of 2.50

Must have lived in UW-Stout residence halls at least two semesters (Including current spring semester).

Must Currently be a resident of one of the halls at the time of application and at the time s/he receives the scholarship. (Exception: participating in a studying abroad or internship opportunity and upon returning to campus living in the residence halls.)

Be undergraduate status when the scholarship is received.

Have complete application with two reference forms filled out by members of the UW-Stout community who can attest to the applicant's leadership to the residence halls.

How to Apply

  • In no more than 250 words describe in detail your involvement, leadership and service in the residence halls and in campus-wide student leadership activities. Please include how you have served as a role model to other students.
  • In no more than 250 words describe what you gained from your experiences in the residences halls and how will this continue to be of value to you.
  • In no more than 150 words comment on why you believe you should be a recipient of one of the Housing Leadership Scholarships.
