Still the Best Way

Food Study and Preparation, and Dietetics were the two courses offered the students of domestic economy in the early days of the Stout Institute. Along with the expanded choice of subjects in this area have come improved laboratories. Visitors from all over the world are impressed with the home-like atmosphere of the kitchens. However, the student of 1915 basically had the same objectives as the girl does now: the planning, preparation, and serving of nutritious food in an appetizing manner. A good meal is still the best way to a man's heart.

Streamlined Homemaking

Household management has always been a necessary part of every girl's training at Stout. No longer does she bend over a hot wood range or carry garbage out in pails. Today, with an electric stove and its automatic timer, the garbage disposal, and numerous other modern conveniences, the home management girls can prepare a meal with a minimum of effort. Through the years, homemaking has become streamlined.
