Student Health Services Medical Staff includes: Medical Director, Physicians, Psychiatrist, Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurse, Certified Medical Assistants and Medical Technologist. The following services are available to students who are currently part-tme or full-time enrollment status. There is no cost for your office visit as you pay a health service fee as part of your tuition (segregated fees).
- Standard office procedures for diagnosis and treatment of illness and injuries, health education and information, and referral
- Providing cooperation of continuation of other treatment programs already under way
- Physical examination: athletic participation, student teaching, routine pre-employment, limited pre-operative
- Preventative health screening:

- Men's heath care - TSE and others
- Women's health care - BSE, pap smears, pregnancy testing and others
- Diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections
- Confidential HIV testing
- Minor procedures such as dressing changes (wound care), wart treatments
- Laceration Repair
- Immunizations: Tetanus, Hepatitis A (2-shot series), Hepatitis B (3-shot series), Flu shots, Meningitis vaccine (Menactra), Gardasil vaccination (3-shot series)
- Tuberculosis Skin Testing
- Laboratory tests
- Medications and contraceptives available for a nominal fee
- Crutch loan service and orthopedic supplies are available for a nominal fee
Student Health Services is unable to provide or pay for the following services:
- X-rays and dental care
- Refractions for eyeglasses
- Pharmacy
- Referral physician care
- Emergency room visits
- Ambulance service
- Severe trauma care
- Hospitalization
Students are responsible for all health care costs incurred outside of Student Health Services. UW-Stout Student Health Services provides laboratory services for routine, preventative, and diagnostic care. Our laboratory is accredited by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA). Quality assurance standards must be met to obtain this accreditation.
All laboratory testing requires a laboratory order from a health care provider - either Student Health Services or an outside health care provider. Please feel free to call and inquire on the price of any of our laboratory tests prior to or while scheduling your appointment.
If you need new/ ongoing laboratory tests ordered by your primary care provider and would like the convenience of having them completed at Student Health Services, please call and speak with our laboratory personnel regarding test orders, specimen requirements, pricing, and test result notification and follow-up.
