Assistantships provide an opportunity for professional experience and some are available to graduate students at UW-Stout. Assistantships are normally filled on an academic year basis although some may be for one semester or a partial semester only.
Graduate Assistantships are considered a form of financial aid; conditions for financial aid are subject to change.
Eligibility is based on the following
Note: Students who have completed a graduate assistantship application generally have the best opportunity to make their qualifications known to the various supervisors who employ graduate assistants. Positions available for the next academic year are posted on Career Services Office – Stout CareerLink. It is the responsibility of the student to contact the supervisor indicated for more information on the position. The department offering the position sends a completed ES-6 form to Human Resources of the graduate applicant to be hired. Human Resources officially offers the position to the prospective graduate assistant.
Graduate Program or Project Assistant: This title designates a graduate student employed to assist with research, training or other academic programs or projects.
Graduate Assistant: This title designates a graduate student who teaches in a classroom or laboratory in an instructional department.

Effective Spring 2011, students and staff will use the Career Services Office – Stout CareerLink resource for posting and applying for graduate assistantship positions.
Go to the student login page to apply, view and search for all graduate assistantships. Log on using your Stout email address as your username and your Stout ID as your password. You will find Graduate Assistantships by going to the “Job Vacancy List” tab at the top of the page and select “Graduate Assistantships” in the dropdown list. Should you have trouble logging in the first time please contact Career Services at 715/232-1601.
As a member of the UW-Stout faculty and staff, you will first need access to Stout CareerLink. Request access at the link Faculty/Staff Access to CareerLink. Once you have access to CareerLink you are able to log in directly, for more information please refer to the “Posting Graduate Assistantships” tutorial.
