Graduate Assistantships

General Information

Assistantships provide an opportunity for professional experience and some are available to graduate students at UW-Stout. Assistantships are normally filled on an academic year basis although some may be for one semester or a partial semester only.

Graduate Assistantships are considered a form of financial aid; conditions for financial aid are subject to change.

Assistantship Eligibility

Eligibility is based on the following

  • admitted to a graduate degree program (dual-level and non-degree seeking students are not eligible)
  • enrolled in at least six credits each term
  • satisfactory academic progress each term
  • application for Graduate Assistantships form completed

Note: Students who have completed a graduate assistantship application generally have the best opportunity to make their qualifications known to the various supervisors who employ graduate assistants. Positions available for the next academic year are posted on Career Services Office – Stout CareerLink. It is the responsibility of the student to contact the supervisor indicated for more information on the position. The department offering the position sends a completed ES-6 form to Human Resources of the graduate applicant to be hired.
