An Open Letter to Student Body President Michael Lubke
Mr. President,
As you know Food Fight: The Stout Student vs. Faculty/Staff Food Pantry Challenge is underway. So far, the rate of donations has been a little slow. We think it is time to heat things up a bit and make this a real Food Fight! We are throwing down the challenge to you and the student body. If the student body wins the Food Fight! competition, we will submit to an old-fashioned “pie in the face” delivered by you and Vice-President Rizzo. If the Faculty & Staff win the competition, you and Vice-President Rizzo will submit to “ a pie in the face” delivered by us.
We offer this challenge because the food pantry challenge is truly an important cause. As you know our community is in need. The Dunn County Interfaith Food Pantry has seen a 30% increase in traffic with a 50% drop in donations. We also offer this challenge because we are confident that the 1,213 UW-Stout employees will school (pun intended) the 8,776 Stout Students. As you know, the food pantry challenge ends on December 12th and more information is available at: http://www.uwstout.edu/getinvolved/foodfight/ & http://www2.uwstout.edu/news/index.asp?event=news.get&ID=1563
Awaiting your response,
Joan Thomas, Dean of Students & Phil Lyons, Asst. Vice-Chancellor - Student Life Services

- Special Notice:
- The last drop-off date will be at the annual Casino Night, March 30th in the Terrace
- Anyone bringing a food item will recieve an extra entry into the raffle
WHAT: A food shelt challenge which will pin the students and faculty/staff against each other as they race to raise the most pounds of food for the Dunn County's Interfaith Food Pantry. A list of preferred items will be distributed, along with a list of unusable items (worth no points if donated). Cash can also be given in lieu of food. At the end of each night the dollar amount will be added up and calculations will be posted. At the end of the competition the food will be weighted and the winner will be announced.
Points will be awarded by each pound of food and dollars of cash raised by each side. No negative points will be alloted by placing unusable items in the opposing teams bins.
See Below for How to Win
WHERE: Food and money donations will be collected and stored in the Arcade Lounge between the Underground and the Pawn (across from the bathrooms) in the Memorial Student Center
WHY: Dunn County's Interfaith Food Pantry is in dire need of extra efforts to support the families in the county. Please see the article located below from the Leader-Telegram: City/Region section issued Friday November 7th. There is an article outlining the 30% increase in food pantry traffic, servicing 547 families in Dunn County. All this while facing a 50% decrease in monetary donations.
If that isn't enought reason, how about the fun and friendly competition between students and faculty/staff and the bragging rights that goes along with winning!?!
---Please watch for more details to come as we work hard as a University and Community in Dunn County to help combat the economic hardships being faced by fellow community members---
