If you are graduating from high school during the next two years, you have a one-of-a-kind opportunity by coming to UW-Stout. You can be one of 40 recipients of a $10,000 scholarship unique among technology education programs in the nation.

The scholarship is a four-year award, worth $2,500 per year, for incoming freshmen who major in technology education with an emphasis in pre-engineering education. Twenty recipients will be selected among high school senior classes of 2007 and 2008.

The scholarship is renewable each year for four years as long as you meet the scholarship requirements.

Initial Requirements

Declared technology education major
ACT of 23 and top half of high school graduating class

Benchmarks for Continuation in the Academy
Years 1-4:
Maintain good standing in the Technology Teacher Education Program within the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin Stout (includes maintaining a 2.75 GPA)
Eligibility for year 2:
Provide documented evidence of passing scores on the Pre Professional Skills Test (PPST) before the beginning of the 2nd year
Eligibility for Year 3:
Sucessfully complete the School of Education's requiremetns for Benchmark I and successfully complete two PLTW certifications
Eligibility for Year 4:
Provide documented evidence of passing scores on the Praxis II Technology Education content exam, successfully complete a third PLTW certifications and be enrolled to complete 4th certification during the final year

Special consideration given to candidates who demonstrate:
The ability to compose a quality essay as outlined in the application
Above-average scores on ACT subcategories of math, science and reading/English
Completion of additional math, science and pre-engineering coursework such as PLTW, beyond minimum units required for high school graduation
Participation in extracurricular activities, especially those related to pre-engineering or teaching
Meritorious behavior resulting in special honors and awards
