The University of Wisconsin-Stout invites applications and nominations for two Major Gift Officers

Position Summary:

The Major Gift Officers are responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts-both current and deferred-to the colleges, departments, and programs of UW-Stout.  The position complements the development efforts of the Chancellor and Deans and works closely with college faculty and staff, as well as the Board of Directors and staff of the Stout University Foundation.   The Major Gift Officers work primarily with alumni, friends, corporations, and foundations to determine philanthropic interests and goals, and effectively close gifts in support of university, collegiate, and departmental fundraising priorities. The positions will actively seek support for specific areas of the university including select colleges and programs.  

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree
Five years of related experience in professional or higher education fund raising, financial services, marketing or sales
Demonstrated communications and interpersonal skills and success in working in a team setting
Ability and willingness to travel extensively

Preferred qualifications:

Minimum of three years professional development experience, with demonstrated ability to promote and successfully solicit major gifts of $25,000 or more by identifying major gift prospects, managing caseload, designing and implementing cultivation and solicitation strategies, and ensuring follow-up activities and stewardship
Professional development experience in higher education
Demonstrated experience in donor/prospect cultivation and solicitation process, including use of volunteers
Knowledge of planned giving programs

Appointment:

These are full-time, 12-month, annually renewable academic professional appointments. These positions are available immediately, and the salary is commensurate with experience. Annual renewals are contingent upon a successful performance review, continuing need for the position, and availability of funds. These positions report directly to the Vice Chancellor for University Advancement and Marketing.
