AAUW Racine Scholarship

The Racine, Wisconsin Branch of the American Association of University Women is offering a $3,000 scholarship to a female student who will be enrolled as college Junior in September 2010.  The successful applicant must be a resident of Racine County, Wisconsin.  The deadline for the receipt of applications is March 6, 2010.

Eligibility:

• Applicants must be female and legal residents of Racine County, Wisconsin.
• Applicants must be enrolled in a four-year accredited degree-granting institution as a full-time student (12 or more credit hours per semester).
• As of the fall semester, 2010, applicants must be enrolled as either first or second semester juniors.
• Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above.

Application Packet:

• The application packet consists of the following:

• The attached two-page application, completed.
• The essay described below.
• A copy of your financial aid form from your college/university.
• A copy of your transcript(s) from all colleges/universities attended.

• Applicants will also need two letters of recommendation, one from a dean, professor, teacher or advisor and the other from a non-academic source.  These letters may be sent with the packet or separately. All materials must be sent to the address below and received by the deadline.

Essay:

• On a separate sheet, write an essay of 500 words or less that addresses the following questions. 
• AAUW promotes equity for all women and girls, lifelong education and positive societal change.  Beyond your career, how will you contribute to your community and society?
• How have your college experiences and education affected your personal growth?
• What strengths do you feel you must possess and what challenges do you feel you may have to overcome to be successful in your chosen field?

Announcement & Award Presentation:

• The winner will be notified by mail.  She is expected to attend the AAUW Racine Branch meeting to be held the evening of May 4, 2010.  She and 1-2 parents will be the guests of the Branch at that dinner meeting.

• Deadlines: Scholarship competitions run twice a year, for each semester.  Submission deadlines are November 1st and March 1st.

• Privacy: All entrant names and contact information will be kept private for use only in the scholarship, except for the winners whose names will be published.
• Requirements:   Entrants must be currently taking classes in an appropriate business or management degree program with at least one semester of studies completed.  Studies can be full-time, part-time, on-campus, or online and must be at an accredited US college.

John S. Knight Fellowships for Professional Journalists

What are we looking for?

We want people who have already accomplished a lot and are ambitious to do more. Candidates must have seven years' professional experience. Fellows receive a stipend of $55,000, plus tuition, health insurance and an allowance for books, housing and child care. NAWIC Chapter #164 Scholarship Award

For students currently enrolled that have at least one semester remaining in a course of study leading to a degree in a construction-related program. Post graduates are not eligible. Come to the Financial Aid office to pick up an application.

Robbinsdale High Schools Scholarship

This scholarship is for students who have graduated from Robbinsdale, District #281 high schools (Robbinsdale HS, Robbinsdale Cooper HS, and Robbinsdale Armstrong HS). Students must have at least two years of college and will be entering their junior , senior, or graduate years. Financial need is also a factor.

The Sallie Mae 911 Education Fund

The Sallie Mae 911 Education Fund was created in response to the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. The scholarship program is open to children of those who were killed or permanently disabled as a result of the terrorist attacks, and who are enrolled as full-time undergraduate students at approved, accredited institutions. Scholarship awards of up to $2,500 per applicant, per school year, are available and may be renewed on an annual basis, subject to satisfactory academic progress. Western Wisconsin Safety Council Scholarship

Eligible students must be in a safety-related major at a Western Wisconsin University or Technical College and have a minimum grade point average of 3.0.

Datatel Scholarship

The Datatel Scholarship Foundation offers four unique scholarships, ranging in value from $1,000 to $2,500 to students attending eligible Datatel client institutions. Datatel Scholars Foundation scholarships are awarded to outstanding students currently attending Datatel client institutions. Angelfire scholarships honor military personnel who have served in the U.S. military during periods of combat. Russ Griffith Memorial scholarships provide assistance to current outstanding students who have returned to higher education after an absence of five or more years. Nancy Goodhue Lynch Scholarships are awarded to outstanding undergraduate students majoring in information technology related curriculum programs.

Icons of Industry Scholarship Awards

The Icons Scholarship is open to exemplary students who have completed at least half of their programs working toward a degree that will lead to a career in the Hospitality Industry. Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute, Inc.

Since 1997, the Tag & Label Manufacturers Institute has provided 58 grants to qualified college students entering their junior and senior years who are interested in the narrow web labeling industry. TLMI represents more than 300 tag and label converters and suppliers in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Our members consist of key corporations within the rapidly growing multi-billion dollar label industry. Any student who qualifies for a scholarship would have an excellent job opportunity with one of these companies upon graduation.

Richland County Extension

Scholarships are available to Richland County 4-H members, Richland County FFA member or Richland county residents who are attending our planning to attend a university, college, technical school, short course or any other institution or higher learning. Arrowhead Home Economists

We are a professional organization located in the Duluth area. One of our goals is to award two scholarships annually to students who meet the following criteria: Majoring in a family consumer science program (parenting education, Early childhood studies, Nutrition, Dietetics, Family and consumer Science education). Wisconsin Associate for Food Protection, Inc.

The applicant must display an interest in dairy or food science, environmental health or allied areas of life sciences, and be a resident of the state of Wisconsin.

Piecemaker's Quilting Guild of Wisconsin Scholarship

This scholarship is available to students majoring or minoring in art. Applicants must reside in Sawyer or Washburn County and have at least a 2.5 GPA.

ABWA United Eau Claire Chapter

The American Business Women's Association (ABWA) United Eau Claire Chapter is pleased to announce a scholarship to students attending universities and technical schools or the 2010 school year.

Scholarship Guidelines:

• Recipient(s) are selected during the month of March, and presented the award at the April or May ABWA meeting.
• Scholarships dollars may be used for tuition and books.
• The recipient's check will be made out to the student and the institution.
• The ABWA United Eau Claire Charter Chapter scholarship will apply to the upcoming school year.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Scholarships will be granted on student merit and GPA, 2.5 GPA or better on a 4.0 scale to persons graduating high school in the Chippewa Valley region of Wisconsin and/or persons attending an accredited college or technical school in the Chippewa Valley region of Wisconsin.

  1. High School Senior
  2. College Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or graduate student (college to include technical school).

WTBA Scholarship

All Civil/Construction Engineering students are eligible, with special consideration to Wisconsin residence students with sophomore/junior status.

The Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association will award a $2,000 scholarship to a student who is enrolled in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, Construction Management and related curriculums. Preference will be given to those applicants who intend to pursue a career in the transportation construction industry.

Applicants are required to submit all of the following documents in order to be considered for the $2,000.00 scholarship. Please indicate () items you have included in your application and forward to the Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association by October 15, 2009. Indicate if any materials are being sent by the university and therefore are not included. Student applicants are encouraged to ensure that all materials are sent to the Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association.

AWS International Scholarship

Awarded to full time international students pursuing a minimum bachelors degree or equivalent in a welding or related field of study. The student must be in the top 20% of the institution's grading system. Proof of country citizenship is required. The student must have completed at least one year of welding or related field of study at a baccalaureate degree-granting institution. Official proof of acceptance from the academic institution is required. The International Scholarship Program is not available to students who reside in North America; i.e., Canada , United States , or Mexico.

Miller Electric IYSC Scholarship

To become eligible for this scholarship, the applicant must compete in the national SkillsUSA - VICA Competition for welding, and advance to the AWS Weld Trials at the AWS International Welding and Fabricating Exposition and Convention, which is held on a bi-annual basis.

Marriott Scholars Program

The Marriott Scholars program is currently accepting applications from students in the hospitality management, hotel management, culinary, or food and beverage fields. Scholarships cover a student’s full tuition up to $9,000.

Military Order of the Purple Heart Scholarship

NSF Graduate Teaching Fellows in K-12 Education (GK-12)

Through grants to academic institutions that award master's or doctoral degrees in NSF supported disciplines, the GK-12 program provides opportunities to highly qualified graduate and advanced undergraduate students to serve as science, mathematics, engineering, and technology resources in the Nation's K-12 schools.
