Brief Biography

I was born and raised in Eau Claire, WI. After graduating from UWEC, I moved to Alabama and spent 17 years there teaching for the Department of Defense at the Fort Benning School District, Fort Benning, GA. After receiving my Ph.D. from Auburn University, I moved to higher education and worked for Troy University-Phenix City Campus. I moved back to WI in June of 2007 and began working at UW-Stout in August of 2007. My husband and I live in Elk Mound, WI.

Teaching Interests: Literacy Education

Research Interests: Effective strategies for teaching culturally and linguistically diverse students. Improving vocabulary and comprehension through interactive read aloud. Using multicultural children's literature to increase cultural appreciation and awareness.
