Faith Huitt teaches Strategies for Teaching Students with Autism in the Inclusive Classroom, Differentiated Instruction, Strategies for Dealing with Disruptive Behavior. Faith has supervised programs for students with mild and moderate disabilities as well as students with severe or profound disabilities, low vision, and autism. She currently supervises graduate level interns in special education. Faith has over thirty years' experience in education which has spanned elementary, secondary, and college-level teaching, as well as working as a special education consultant and a special education administrator.  

In the public school setting, Faith has taught French, speech, drama, English, learning disabilities, and behavior disorders. As an adjunct college instructor, she has taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate special education classes in the areas of diagnosis/evaluation, methods, transition, and collaboration.

Faith has served on numerous district, area education agency, and state committees related to special education service delivery, rules of special education, and IEP development. She has presented at state and national conferences on many topics, which include computer-assisted instruction, collaboration/co-teaching, and behavioral and academic strategies. 

Ms. Huitt earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Seattle Pacific University . She has a Master's degree from Drake University in curriculum and instruction, with emphasis in learning disabilities and behavioral disorders. Faith's post-graduate work includes studies in educational administration, collaboration, curriculum-based assessment, and English-language learning.

Faith and her husband Norman reside in Des Moines , Iowa . They have two grown daughters, five grandchildren, and a yellow lab named Leo. Grandchildren are frequent residents of Huitt House. 

When Faith is not working in the field of education, Faith has a passion for growing flowers and is a Master Gardener. She has many interests, which include nonfiction reading, travel, photography, writing, and collecting British coronation items.
